"Where's the sea? It was there this morning..." is the astonishment when you discover that the sea has receded! It's a perfectly normal sight, as the tide comes and goes. Twice a day, you can witness this "high tide - low tide" cycle, each time offering an astonishing panorama. In concrete terms, the sea rises for around 6 hours, stagnates for a few minutes, then falls again for another 6 hours. This incessant to-and-fro is due to the Earth's rotation and the attraction exerted by the moon and sun on the mass of seas and oceans.
